07 - Remove from heat and let rest briefly. Separate into individual rolls and serve warm.

  • If you forget to soften your butter and try spreading it cold, you will shred the tops of the rolls and end up with a patchy buttery mess instead of that gorgeous even golden crust.
  • Cutting the rolls while they are still connected as one sheet is the single most important step because it keeps the cheese contained and makes portioning effortless after baking.
03 -
  • Cover the tray loosely with foil for the first five minutes of baking if you want the cheese extra melted before browning the tops under the broiler for the final two minutes.
  • Dusting a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt over the buttered tops right before baking elevates the flavor in a way that guests always notice but can never quite identify.
