Zesty dehydrated tzatziki seasoning for Mediterranean-style dips, marinades and grilled vegetables. Shelf-stable.

# What you need:

→ Herbs & Aromatics

01 - 3 tablespoons dried dill
02 - 2 tablespoons dried mint
03 - 2 tablespoons dried parsley
04 - 1 tablespoon dried chives
05 - 1 tablespoon dried garlic granules
06 - 1 tablespoon dried onion powder

→ Spices & Seasonings

07 - 1½ teaspoons sea salt
08 - 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
09 - 1 teaspoon dried lemon zest or citric acid
10 - ½ teaspoon dried cucumber powder (optional, for authentic tzatziki flavor)

# How To:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine the dried dill, mint, parsley, chives, garlic granules, onion powder, sea salt, black pepper, dried lemon zest (or citric acid), and cucumber powder if using.
02 - Whisk all ingredients together vigorously until the seasoning blend is uniform and evenly distributed throughout.
03 - Transfer the finished blend to an airtight container or glass spice jar. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight for up to 6 months.
04 - Stir 1 to 2 tablespoons of the mix into Greek yogurt or sour cream with a splash of olive oil for an instant tzatziki-style dip. Alternatively, sprinkle directly over grilled vegetables, chicken, or seafood as a finishing seasoning.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • This mix turns a plain container of Greek yogurt into something that tastes like it came from a taverna on a sun baked island.
  • Because everything is dried and shelf stable you can keep a jar ready for months without thinking about it.
02 -
  • Moisture is the enemy of this blend so always use a completely dry spoon when reaching into the jar or the whole batch will clump and lose its punch.
  • Citric acid is dramatically more potent than dried lemon zest so if you go that route start with half a teaspoon and taste before adding more.
03 -
  • Rub the dried herbs between your palms as you add them to wake up the essential oils and make the blend noticeably more fragrant.
  • Let the finished mix sit sealed for a day before using it because the flavors marry and deepen in a way that immediate use will not show you.
